Rangers to face Lincoln Red Imps as Europa League draw is made

Rangers will face Lincoln Red Imps in the second qualifying round of the Europa League.

The match will take place in Gibraltar on September 17, and will be carried out over just one leg with extra time and penalties to be played if necessary.

UEFA have confirmed that ties in all qualifying rounds will be played behind closed doors over one leg.

Rangers found out their opponents this morning at the draw in Nyon, Switzerland. Lincoln Red Imps famously beat Celtic 1-0 in 2016, before being beaten 3-0 in the return leg in Glasgow.

Steven Gerrard's men only finished their 2019/20 Europa League campaign three weeks ago, when they lost 1-0 against Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of a tie that began in March.

Celtic were not involved in today's draw, but will enter the Europa League after being knocked out of the Champions League at the second qualifying round stage by Ferencvaros on Wednesday.

They will be involved in tomorrow's draw for the third qualifying round, after it was confirmed in today's draw that they would not be one of the sides who are given a bye.

With the international break having started, Rangers will next be in action on September 12 when they host Dundee United.
