The result means a mammoth 5000-mile round trip to Armenia just days before their derby day clash with Celtic.

With the sides playing out a goalless first leg at the Alashkert Stadium, the hosts put themselves in front through Jose Embalo. However, Almaty hit back almost immediately through Aybol Abiken just before half-time.
