Rangers to discover Premiership flag day opponents in June as date of new season start revealed

Rangers will discover who they will face on the opening day of the new season when the SPFL announce their fixtures on June 15.

The Ibrox side will be at home on the opening day for the first time since 2016 with Steven Gerrard's men facing trips to Aberdeen (twice) and Kilmarnock in the last three years.

But they are guaranteed to be at home on the opening day of the new campaign with the champions always starting the season at their own ground.

Celtic will also discover who they'll face on the opening day and it's the first time in more than a decade that the Hoops will be away from home on the first day.

A new manager is set to be in place for then with Neil Lennon's replacement expected to be announced when the season ends next weekend.

The league campaign will begin on the weekend of July 31 and there will also be a return of the winter break with the Premiership set to shut down from Monday, January 3 until Friday, January 21.

All four divisions will kick-off on July 31 but the Premier Sports Cup will begin three weeks earlier with the group stage.
