Rangers to bank staggering 100x profit as Kamara 'nears Leeds transfer switch'

Rangers are reportedly set to bank a profit of more than 100 times their spend on Glen Kamara.

The Ibrox midfielder is thought to be closing in on a £5.5million transfer to Leeds United.

Kamara, 27, had joined Rangers from Dundee in January 2019 for just £50,000.

And the £5.5m Leeds fee - reported by The Scottish Sun - would see Rangers net a major return on their shrewd investment.

It's claimed the Championship club have "stepped up" efforts to land Kamara this summer over the past 24 hours.

However, it's thought there could be competition for his signature from Middlesbrough and Coventry City.

Kamara is back training at Rangers' Auchenhowie base after a period training in isolation over the summer.

The midfielder - once a key player - hasn't featured for the club this season as a transfer exit looms.

Michael Beale had shut down suggestions of a Leeds move being close last week, but the new report suggests a formal announcement is close with negotiations at an "advanced stage".

Speaking last month on Kamara's future, Beale said: “There’s no update on Glen. He was obviously given an extended break at the end of the season due to internationals then he’s had a sickness problem which has run on.

“He’s training in isolation at the moment, not with the group, trying to get himself up to speed.

“There’s a lot in the background with Glen as well with different enquiries and him talking to different people.

“So it’s best that he’s to the side of the group. I’ve got no issues with him on a personal level, it’s a conversation we had a good few months ago."

The news of Kamara's exit comes after Beale confirmed any further business this summer would be "more outs than ins".

He said:  "It is likely to be more outs than ins just because of the size of the squad.

"Maybe one or two out. If we can get one in that I think can make the starting team stronger then that would be great."
