Rangers title U-turn as supercomputer predicts 13-point swing in Celtic battle

In-form Rangers have finally won over the supercomputer and are now being backed to end Celtic's bid to end Ten In A Row.

Steven Gerrard 's side now have a 65 per cent chance of being crowned champions - according to pollsters FiveThirtyEight.

The analytics site have updated their Premiership forecast and they have been bolstered in recent days after they correctly called the US Election in favour of Joe Biden.

And they are now predicting Rangers to see off Neil Lennon 's side by five points with a final season tally of 95 - a 13-point swing on what they predicted last month.

The Ibrox side currently boast a nine-point advantage but have played two more games than Celtic.

Rangers' odds received a further boost as they stretched their goal difference to 13 after their eight-goal win over Hamilton on Sunday.

And that heavy defeat is bad news for the Accies who are now tipped to finish bottom with the worst goal differential in the league.

The latest update is the first time Rangers have edged clear as favourites but Gerrard has continued to stress in recent weeks to supporters they remain a long way away from title immortality.

FiveThirtyEight predicted league table:

  1. Rangers 95 points GD +74
  2. Celtic  90 +66
  3. Aberdeen  65 +12
  4. Hibs  59 +4
  5. Motherwell  48 -6
  6. Kilmarnock 47 -3
  7. Dundee United 43 -19
  8. St Johnstone 42 -16
  9. Livingston  42 -15
  10. St Mirren 36 -24
  11. Ross County 35 -33
  12. Hamilton Accies 33 -37
