Rangers thanked by Government for 'very generous' Covid vaccine offer

Rangers have been thanked for their ‘very generous’ offer to turn Ibrox into a Covid vaccine centre.

The Scottish Premiership leaders announced yesterday that they had written to the Government in order to offer up the stadium as a venue for vaccination.

In a letter from managing director Stewart Robertson, staff expertise as well as space normally reserved for car parking was offered as the roll out of the Covid vaccine continues across the country.

And now the Government have thanked them for their ‘very generous’ offer.

Secretary of State for Scotland Alistair Jack, via his office’s twitter account, thanks the Govan club but as yet it’s not clear whether their offer has been accepted.

Dunfermline are the first club to hand over their stadium to the NHS for use as a vaccination centre.

Work has already begun on turning East End Park into a makeshift hub which should be up and running next week.

The Fife club have offered up their ground free of charge with hundreds of vaccinations a day ready to be administered.

Aberdeen have made a similar offer to NHS Grampian with Rangers following suit in Glasgow.
