Motherwell women’s head coach Paul Brownlie insists a lengthy spell between games in the SWPL 1 will not have a negative impact on his side.
The Women of Steel defeated Hearts 2-0 last Sunday, making it three games unbeaten after a win over Hamilton and draw with Spartans. A tough task away to Rangers comes next.
Brownlie’s side have been made to wait to play the fixture. The international break has meant that there have been no competitive games played in the last week and Motherwell won’t be in action for a further week.
Rangers have a number of players involved with international teams and proceedings against Brownlie’s team have been postponed until November 3rd.
“We have been speaking about our plans over the last couple of weeks,” said the ‘Well boss on the delay. “We’ve scheduled in some friendly games to keep us ticking over. It’s important that other players within the squad are getting game time.
“We will still have momentum and we’ve been able to go back to the training pitch and work even harder.
“That’s so that when somebody is asked to play, they are ready to go. We are trying to keep our squad happy, which can be really difficult.
“We are in a rich vein of form and we’ve had some really good results.”
Meanwhile, winger Nicole Cairney has left Motherwell by mutual consent. She returned for a second spell in the summer after time at Hamilton Accies and made nine appearances overall this term.
