Rangers teens Arron Lyall and Josh McPake shine as young side batter Crusaders in testimonial

A youthful Rangers side smashed five past Crusaders in a testimonial for club legend Declan Caddell in Belfast.

And among the goalscorers was highly-rated 15-year-old Arron Lyall who netted in the second half.

Glenn Middleton was the highest profile Rangers player in the team that also included Jamie Barjonas, Dapo Mebude, Josh McPake and Andrew Dallas while Serge Atakayi was among the subs.

Caddell has been at the Irish League club since he was a teenager and Rangers sent a young side over for the game.

It was Crusaders who took the lead after seven minutes when Tom Mathieson opened the scoring.

But the lead didn't last too long and Rangers were level inside half an hour.

It was Middleton who picked up the ball inside the box to drill home and Rangers then took control.

Four minutes later McPake added a second before Dallas curled one past Harry Doherty.

Changes were made at half time and Atakayi added a fifth on 65 minutes when he beat the goalkeeper to the ball before finishing.

But perhaps the biggest talking point came in the last 10 minutes when Lyall added a fifth. The 15-year-old was playing against experienced Northern Irish pros when he added a fifth to secure a good day for the Gers.

The youngster was also part of the Rangers side that won the Alkass Cup last season and is tipped for big things.
