Rangers' teenage prodigy reveals why he rejected Swansea City, Everton and Nottingham Forest

Young Rangers striker Chris McKee has revealed he rejected Swansea City in favour of a move to Ibrox.

The 17-year-old youth starlet moved to Glasgow from Northern Irish club Linfield in September 2018 and is thought to be held in very high regard by the academy staff there.

He is yet to feature for Steven Gerrard's senior side, but has become a key player for Rangers' under-18s side.

While McKee is clearly making strides up in Glasgow, the forward - who has three goals in 11 games for Northern Ireland Under-17s - has revealed he was offered trials by both Swansea and Premier League outfit Everton and was also sounded out by Nottingham Forest and Stevenage.

But he says it was Rangers that made him feel welcome, one of the main reasons he decided to move to Ibrox.

“When Rangers offered me a contract, it was a no-brainer for me to sign it and I am delighted to be here and thankful for the opportunity,”  McKee told the Glasgow Times.

“The main thing was when I came to Rangers, it felt like I was at home. The Scottish are very similar to the Northern Irish and we have the same sort of personalities.

“I felt when I went down to England I wasn’t accepted as much in their groups but all the boys and the staff made me feel at home at Rangers.

“I was offered terms at Nottingham Forest and Stevenage and was supposed to go on trial at Everton and Swansea but I turned them down because I wanted to get my Rangers deal finished.”
