And he'll be keen to get Wright up to speed as soon as possible after making the effort to acquire him six months early. He'll feature at some point, but a place on the bench seems the most likely scenario.
Allan McGregor will start in goal with an unchanged back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Borna Barisic.
Gerrard will opt for a midfield three of Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack and Steven Davis.
One player they'll be without is Alfredo Morelos who is serving a three-game suspension for his stamp on Ryan Porteous and Kemar Roofe should lead the line in his place.
