Rangers team news v Celtic revealed as Steven Gerrard hands Kemar Roofe a starting spot

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has named his team to face Celtic in the final derby of the season.

The Ibrox manager has had plenty of injury and suspension worries to deal with so he's down to his barebones for the Old Firm game.

It's viewed as a deadrubber by some but Rangers will be fired up as they look to close in on the invincible season they've been chasing this season.

It could also be the first time in 20 years that Rangers go through a season with an undefeated record in Old Firm games and they'll be desperate to do that.

Rangers have made two changes from the team that crashed out of the Scottish Cup last weekend, and one of them is an enforced one.

Filip Helander is out with an injury so Jack Simpson comes in for just his second ever Rangers start. It's a big game for the former Bournemouth defender and he'll be desperate to show he's got what it takes.

Allan McGregor begins in goals with James Tavernier at right back, Connor Goldson partnering Simpson and Borna Barisic at left back.

The midfield three picks itself due to the injuries and suspensions with Steven Davis alongside Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara.

The other change comes in the front line with Ianis Hagi dropping out after struggling for form in recent weeks.

He's replaced by Kemar Roofe, who starts on the right hand side of the attacking trio with Alfredo Morelos through the middle and Ryan Kent on the left.

Rangers might have some issues on the substitute bench though, particularly if a defender or midfielder gets injured with youngster Leon King likely to be included.

FULL TEAM: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Simpson, Barisic, Davis, Aribo, Kamara, Roofe, Morelos, Kent

Subs: McLaughlin, King, Hagi, Wright, Stewart, Defoe, Itten.
