Rangers team news v Alashkert revealed as Steven Gerrard makes huge Calvin Bassey call

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has named his team to face Alashkert in the Europa League.

The clash at Ibrox is the playoff for the tournament and unsurprisingly, Gerrard has gone very strong for this one as he looks to reach the group stage of the Europa League for the fourth year in a row.

The Rangers fans were frustrated by the defeat to Malmo in the Champions League last week but will be back out in force to support their team tonight.

Glen Kamara serves the final game of his suspension while Kemar Roofe still has another one to go after tonight.

Gerrard admitted that Calvin Bassey had given him something to think about with his performance against Dunfermline on Friday night.

He got two assists while Borna Barisic has struggled to reach top form since being injured during the summer.

Gerrard has decided to go with Bassey and the young left back will be looking to prove a point.

Allan McGregor starts in goals and it's a back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Bassey.

Steven Davis continues in the middle of the park as always and is joined by Joe Aribo and John Lundstram as Rangers look to attack.

It's an exciting front three too with Ianis Hagi joining Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent and Rangers have plenty of options on the bench too.

Scott Wright, Scott Arfield, Cedric Itten and/Barisic are all there.

Full team: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Bassey, Davis, Lundstram, Aribo, Hagi, Morelos, Kent

Subs: McCrorie, McLaughlin, Itten, Simpson, Patterson, Wright, Balogun, Kelly, Barisic, Arfield
