Rangers team news: Morelos starts and Tavernier wins fitness battle for Leverkusen tie

Alfredo Morelos has been chosen to lead the line for Rangers in tonight's massive Europa League tie with Bayer Leverkusen.

Steven Gerrard indicated he had a decision to make regarding the Rangers striking role, but has opted to stick with the club's top scorer this season.

James Tavernier has won his race to be fit and replaces Matt Polster at right back, while Ianis Hagi drops to the bench to make way for Scott Arfield.

The full team is as follows: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Edmundson, Barisic, Kamara, Davis, Arfield, Aribo, Kent, Morelos.

Subs: Foderingham, Polster, Halliday, Katic, Ojo, Hagi, Kamberi.

On the back of Gerrard suggesting Morelos' inclusion wasn't a sure thing, we at Glasgow Live asked Rangers fans which team they wanted to see face Leverkusen.

And the results of our widget revealed that most supporters were backing the Colombian to lead the line against Peter Bosz' side.

The team fans wanted to see was as follows: McGregor, Tavernier, Edmundson, Goldson, Barisic, Aribo, Davis, Arfield, Hagi, Morelos, Kent.

There had been some fears that tonight's match could be cancelled following reports in Spain, however Rangers quickly moved to confirm this wouldn't be the case .

A UEFA summit will take place next week where representatives of all 55 member associations will discuss the situation and how it could affect European competitions, including Euro 2020.
