Rangers 'target' Pedro Chirivella as Liverpool youngster poised for summer Anfield exit

Liverpool youngster Pedro Chirivella is reportedly a summer transfer target for Rangers.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has made 10 first team appearances for Jurgen Klopp 's side, though only one came in the Premier League.

He is perhaps best known for an appearance in the League Cup earlier this season when he played despite being ineligible and earned Liverpool a fine.

Chirivella is out of contract at the end of the season and, according to the Transfer Window podcast, Steven Gerrard is pushing to bring him to Ibrox.

The Rangers boss worked with the Spaniard during his time as Liverpool youth coach and knows his abilities well.

As it's a cross-border transfer the Ibrox club would only have to pay a small development fee, similar to the deal that took Joe Aribo to the Scottish Premiership.

However, it remains to be seen how the impact of the coronavirus shutdown will affect clubs across the country and, indeed, contracts and transfer windows.
