Rangers target Kemar Roofe 'allowed to leave for Ibrox' by Anderlecht

Rangers are believed to be closer to clinching a deal for signing target Kemar Roofe.

The former Leeds United attacker joined Anderlecht in August 2019, but it's reported that the Belgian side are willing to let him leave.

With speculation continuing surrounding the future of Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe out injured, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is eager to add to his attacking options.

Belgian website HLN Sport today reports that Anderlecht are willing to let the 27-year-old join Rangers.

They say the club are "conducting far-reaching negotiations" with Rangers, and that the striker is expected to sign a four-year deal at Ibrox.

The Englishman has struggled with injuries during his time in Belgium, and has scored seven goals in 16 appearances.

Rangers legend Ally McCoist, meanwhile, says Jamie O'Hara's comments comparing Bournemouth and Rangers were "stupid".

The Billericay Town boss called Bournemouth a "higher profile football team" than Gerrard's side, but McCoist today told talkSPORT listeners: "If ever there was a case for a talkSPORT broadcaster to be breathalysed and drug tested in the same movement for having an opinion as stupid as that, yesterday was that particular occasion.

"In all seriousness, I'm all for everybody having an opinion, unless it's Jamie O'Hara talking about Rangers and Bournemouth."
