Rangers take former Chelsea kid 'on trial' as Nigerian youngster looks for new club

Highly-rated teenager Adrian Akande has trained with Rangers after leaving Chelsea, according to reports.

The 16-year-old decided to leave the Stamford Bridge club and the Nigerian could make his way to Glasgow.

The Daily Post in his homeland say he has been on trial with Rangers in recent weeks and also had time training with English Premier League side West Ham and German outfit Hoffenheim.

The Ibrox side have previously signed Nathan Young-Coombes from the Chelsea youth system while Billy Gilmour went the opposite way.

The talented winger made his U23 Premier League 2 debut for Chelsea in a game against Newcastle as a 15-year-old.

He joined the club from Crystal Palace as a 12-year-old and was part of the Nigeria squad for the U17 African Cup of Nation earlier this year.

Celtic have also been linked with a move for him while Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been credited with an interest.
