Rangers supporters seethe at Lyon ticket shambles as French government U turn sparks confusion

Rangers fans have been left fuming after the French government did yet another U-turn on their Europa League clash in Lyon.

More than 2000 Rangers supporters bought up tickets to the dead-rubber clash in France as group winners Lyon host Gio van Bronckhorst 's second-placed team.

Travelling fans were initially told they could not access Lyon city centre on the day of the game due to the ongoing Festival of Light.

But Rangers were forced to release a furious statement on Monday which confirmed France had taken things one step further and pulled their ticket allocation altogether.

Understandably this led to many fans cancelling their flights to France.

And those fans, as well as the wider support, were left in disbelief when a further Rangers statement today confirmed that the allocation had been restored less than 24 hours later.

Replying to the statement on Twitter, one wrote: "What an absolute shambles this has been from start to finish. Cancelled flights accommodation and train tickets yesterday losing most of my money for them to do this today."

Another tweeted: "This after most folk have cancelled stuff yesterday. They are taking the p***!"

A further added: "So fans book flights and hotels. Cancel flights and hotels. And are now told they can go anyway. Absolute shambles."

One fumed at the French: "Absolute s***show from Lyon, cancelled everything last night for them to do this today."

And another summed it all up as he said: "Shambolic. No other word for it."
