Rangers suffer Betfred Cup tifo blow as Union Bears blast Hampden security chiefs over 'dictator agenda'

Rangers supporters group The Union Bears have hit out at Hampden security chiefs claiming a "dictator agenda" put the kibosh on their pre-match tifo plans.

Steven Gerrard 's side face rivals Celtic in the Betfred Cup on Sunday but the light blues faithful will have to do without a colourful display from their supporters.

Cup Finals in recent years have delivered scenes of noise and colour and The Union Bears have been behind some of Rangers' most eye-catching displays.

But they revealed, via a social media statement, that plans for something special against Celtic have been scrapped.

A statement read: "Unfortunately due to the awkwardness from Hampden's head of security - Brian Muir, we were unable to come to a workable setup arrangement which has resulted in the tifo being cancelled.

"This is not the first time that Brian Muir has tried to prevent football supporters from creating a visual display at Hampden with his stubborn attitude.

"Brian Muir is one of many people within Scotland who is trying to destroy both visual and vocal atmosphere inside football stadiums with his ex-police tactics and dictator agenda.

"We'd ask all Rangers supporters to get behind the team tomorrow and cheer the team onto victory.

"The team need our support, let your voices be heard for 90 minutes!"
