Rangers striker Jermain Defoe calls Jamie O'Hara Bournemouth comments 'laughable'

Jermain Defoe has called Jamie O'Hara's comments regarding Rangers and Bournemouth "laughable".

Rangers striker Defoe made 65 appearances for Bournemouth across two spells, and was taken aback by Billericay Town boss O'Hara's suggestion on talkSPORT that the Cherries are a "higher profile football team" than Rangers and "they (Rangers) are a huge football club but it’s a bigger job to potentially be the Bournemouth manager."

Ibrox legend Ally McCoist called O'Hara's comments "stupid", while the likes of Harry Redknapp, Neil Warnock and even Sir Rod Stewart have criticised him.

As quoted in Record Sport, Defoe said: "To be totally honest, when I saw it I laughed. I just couldn't believe it.

"I played for Bournemouth but to be honest there is no comparison. What he said was laughable."

Defoe misses out through injury tonight as Rangers take on Bayer Leverkusen in their Europa League second leg.

Alfredo Morelos is included in the squad despite speculation regarding his future, and Defoe said: "Eternally you become friends, you each other every day, it's part and parcel of football, players come and go, and it's never been easy in my career.

"Sometime I've not even been able to say bye to a player, it's the part of it now.

"He's dealt with it quite well, you wouldn't look at him and think he's got that in the back of his mind or he's not training well or he's not got his head down, or is confused or anxious, he's just been normal to be honest.

"Stuff like that you leave up to the club, if he does go, you wish him the best and if he stay then he's a top player, as he has shown."
