Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos pictured travelling with team to France

Despite persistent speculation linking him with a move, Alfredo Morelos has been pictured arriving in France with the rest of the Rangers squad.

Steven Gerrard's men have flown out to take part in the Veolia Trophy, with their first game coming on Thursday night against Olympique Lyonnais.

They will then meet Nice on Saturday before flying back to Glasgow and facing Motherwell and Coventry in friendlies later this month.

Morelos has this week been linked with Italian giants Lazio, and has also been mentioned in connection with their Serie A rivals Napoli.

Fans were relieved, however, to see Morelos pictured alongside Jordan Jones as Gerrard's side prepare for their upcoming games.

Team-mate Jermain Defoe, meanwhile, says the Colombian striker's reputation may hold him back.

Speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast, Defoe said: "The thing that goes against him is his reputation.

"You would like to think people would take a chance on him but it is his reputation.

"You don’t want to get a player who gets sent off and misses games when you have invested so much money in somebody.

“If he can get his head down this season, kick on again and show people he has changed because the football side is fine."

Morelos has scored 77 goals in 137 games since joining Rangers in 2017.
