Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos misses sitter on first Colombia start

Alfredo Morelos passed up the chance to mark his first Colombia start with a goal as he missed a guilt-edged opportunity.

The Rangers striker was included in the starting XI to face South Korea and could have found the net with his side trailing 1-0.

It proved to be the 22-year-old's last meaningful action of the game as he was subbed in place of James Rodriguez at half-time.

Morelos was making his third appearance for Colombia and will have been desperate to impress new boss Carlos Quieroz.

But despite bagging 29 club goals this season he'll have to wait to open his international account.

A whipped cross into the area found Morelos lurking in the penalty box but the Ibrox favourite failed to make contact with the ball and the opportunity was gone.

Colombia equalised shortly after the break through Luis Fernando Diaz but the Koreans went on to find a winner to claim a 2-1 victory.

There's been no suggestion that Morelos' withdrawal was injury-related ahead of Rangers' pivotal clash with Celtic on Sunday.
