Rangers strength and depth indicator fans are pointing to after looking at Steven Gerrard's bench

Rangers' team news v Livingston has had fans of the Ibrox club talking on social media.

However it's not the starting XI many of them are most positive about – it's the strength on Steven Gerrard's substitutes bench.

The depth of Rangers' squad this season is clearly a source of real encouragement for many supporters.

And the fact that the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Scott Arfield, Glen Kamara and Borna Barisic don't even make the starting XI this afternoon has some saying it's the strongest Rangers bench in more than a decade.

Gerrard was able to make five changes from the side which overcame Standard Liege on Thursday. Filip Helander, Calvin Bassey, Steven Davis, Joe Aribo and Jermain Defoe come in for Leon Balogun, Barisic, Kamara, Arfield and Morelos.

Here's a look at what supporters have been saying on social media.

"That bench would beat the starting 11" - @RangersSpares__

"Look at that bench. Finally a bit of strength and depth" - @Scottwalkero7

"Add Patterson and Edmundson to that bench and there's a full side that could compete with anyone in the league..." - @taximan2002

"That has to be the strongest bench we've had since the Little General was in charge!" -@piesneame

"That bench is stacked with quality" - @Mr_FortyEight

"What a bench" - @MarcoC103

"Strongest Rangers bench I've seen in a long time" - @beefliverpool

Some supporters were keen to share their thoughts on the starting XI.

"Love to see Defoe start" - @carsonritchie__

"Glad to see Bassey get a start. Defoe hasn't featured much but give him half a chance he'll be on the scoresheet." - @OnlyAnExcuse

"Would rather have seen Itten get a start" - @CshoreSmokey

"Odd team but I like it" - @nathanj3001
