Rangers starting team news vs Hibs as Michael Beale makes big call at the back for Ibrox clash

Michael Beale has named his Rangers starting team as he takes in his first competitive game in charge.

The Light Blues brought the former No2 back to the club following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst. He served under Steven Gerrard's time in charge and made an emotional return north of the border to take on the big chair after going out on his own. He had a short time in the dugout at QPR before the Ibrox men came calling.

Supporters got a first taste of the new era on Saturday as the Light Blues ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen. Malik Tillman was the star of the show scoring a first-half double after getting onto the end of two crosses from skipper James Tavernier. Scott Arfield also got in on the act in the perfect warm-up ahead of the Premiership return tonight against Hibs following the World Cup winter shutdown.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Rangers boss said: "On a personal level I feel overly ready for the game, and I can't wait for tomorrow night. It is going to be a hugely proud moment for me but it is more important that the fans and the players are aligned and we put on a strong performance at home at Ibrox.

“The players just need to go out and play at the level I know that they can and I thought they showed a good indication that they are moving in the right direction on Saturday, albeit it was against a Bayer Leverkusen team that is behind us in their preparation.

“It is just about winning the next game, all we can control is ourselves, and if we win games of football then it gives us the best opportunity.”

“I just need them to be the best version of themselves, I need to see a team that has got a lot of cohesion, that is aggressive in its pressing, aggressive in its forward running and I want them to show the same quality they showed against Bayer Leverkusen.”

RANGERS XI: McGregor, Tavernier, Sands, Lundstram, Devine, Kamara, Jack, Tillman, Kent, Fashion JR, Morelos.

Subs: McLaughlin, Davis, Matondo, Wright, Davies, McCann, Arfield, Fraser, Lowry.
