Rangers star Sheyi Ojo set to switch allegiance as he makes big call on future

Sheyi Ojo is set to turn his back on England and join Rangers team mate Joe Aribo in lining up for Nigeria.

The on-loan Liverpool forward has revealed he's started the process to switch allegiances to the Super Eagles.

Ojo was part of the England U20 side that won the World Cup two years ago and has represented the Three Lions at all levels from Under 16s to Under 21s.

But he's also eligible to play for the African nation through his Nigerian heritage and has now confirmed that he is available for selection for Gernot Rohr's side.

And that means Rangers boss Steven Gerrard could see two of his key men be involved in the Nigeria squad with the African Cup of Nations qualifying beginning next month.

Ojo said: "I have made it known that I am willing to switch allegiance to Nigeria.

"I will be glad if I am called up because just like Joe Aribo I also want to play for Nigeria at senior level.

"It's up to the coaches to decide on picking up in the squad and in the meantime, all I have to do is to keep doing my best at Rangers and hope I get noticed."

Ojo had previously admitted switching from England to Nigeria was an option when he was on loan at French side Reimes, but he has now made up his mind.

Nigeria have a friendly with Brazil later this month in Singapore, but he's unlikely to be included in time for that squad.

But they then face three games before the end of the year at home against Benin and Togo before a trip to Lesotho for an African Cup of Nations qualifier.
