Rangers star Ross McCrorie set for Aberdeen move despite Hibs interest

Ross McCrorie is believed to be on the verge of joining Aberdeen.

The 22-year-old was expected to leave Rangers for Hibs, but it appears that Derek McInnes's side are set to sign him.

Swiss side St Gallen, who recently signed Florian Kamberi from Hibs, were also mentioned in connection with the Scotland under-21 international.

Record Sport report that the Dons have agreed a six-figure fee with Rangers, and should arrive at Cormack Park this morning for his medical.

Versatilie McCrorie can play at right-back, central defence and midfield.

Speaking after his side's 0-0 draw against Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard said: “Ross is close. He has a couple of options on the table. Again, we are waiting for a decision really.”

Aberdeen's fixtures against Hamilton Accies and Celtic were postponed due to eight of  their players breaching lockdown rules, but they return to action in the Premiership on Thursday when they face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

They began their season with a 1-0 defeat at Pittodrie against Rangers, and are yet to kick a ball since that opening day fixture.
