Rangers star 'kicked his last ball for club' as lofty fee floated

Andy Halliday has predicted Nico Raskin will not kick another ball for Rangers.

The little midfielder was already being linked with moves away even before starring at the World Cup, with a number of clubs interested. Since playing a big in Belgium's march to the quarter-finals, speculation has soared.

Halliday was of the belief the 25-year-old would be away anyway - now he is fully convinced.

And he feels Rangers should be looking for a fee similar to the £25million Nottingham Forest offered for Celtic's Arne Engels.

Asked about Raskin on Open Goal, he said: "Aye, he's played his last game for Rangers. I think he would've left anyway but after a good World Cup he'll have better options.

"I think Raskin's a better player than Engels. Nottingham Forest bid £25m for Engels. A big part of that is going to be team success as well. I don't think Rangers would get £25m for Raskin, but you're trying to push it as much as you possibly can."

Derek Ferguson thinks the most likely destination for the Belgian is the Premier League, where Hull City have been linked.

He said: "I think Premier League because it's a great platform for him and he's showed up well. He's been wanting that since he joined.

"It was a stepping stone, but Rangers supporters shouldn't take that as an insult because that happens. He's done ever so well, so I think a few Premier League clubs down south..."
