Rangers' star Kemar Roofe's young child in hospital, club confirm

Rangers ace Kemar Roofe’s young child is in hospital, the football club has confirmed.

The 28-year-old was a last minute omission from the Rangers squad during today’s Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee United.

Boss Steven Gerrard told the press pre-match that the striker dropped out of the squad due to a ‘family issue’.

The club later confirmed to fans that his child is currently in hospital.

In a tweet, the Ibrox side wrote: “Kemar Roofe’s young child is in hospital. Please respect his privacy at this time.

“Everyone at Rangers wishes him well.”

Fans across the Old Firm divide have sent messages of support to the Rangers star and his family over social media.

Roofe has become a fan favourite among Rangers fans since making a reported £4.5m move to Ibrox last year.

Rangers were defeated in the league for the first time in 40 games after losing 1-0 to Dundee United at Tannadice earlier this afternoon.
