A video has emerged on social media showing Rangers star Jermain Defoe giving a message to the son of a cop who helped him after his Clyde Tunnel collision.
The incident took place at around 6pm on Saturday - just an hour after he had netted against Aberdeen at Ibrox .
Three cars were involved in the crash but fortunately nobody was seriously hurt.
And now Elaine McElhatton has revealed Defoe filmed a message for her son as a thank you to her partner who was one of the responding officer's on scene.
She took to Twitter to say "My partner was one of the Police officers who attended Jermain Defoe 's accident last night. He did this wee video for our son! The man is an absolute gent. Thanks again, Jermain! "
In the video, a smiling Defoe says: "Hello Charlie, it's Jermain Defoe.
"I'm just here with your dad. Make sure you look after him because he's looked after me today.
"I'm glad you liked my goal today and I hopefully I will be watching you on TV one day scoring all your goals. Cheers mate."
Defoe took to his Instagram on Saturday night to assure fans of his wellbeing as pictures of the crash spread on social media.
He said:"I just want to say thank you for all your lovely messages. I know you must have been so worried.
"But no seriously I am fine and all good. I'm just going to go home and rest up.
"I'm a little shocked but I'm all good. Thank you for your messages again."
