The 27-year-old posted the image with a shrug emoji as he shared the sickening message.

The Rangers star was targeted this season when a supporter ran onto the pitch to confront him against Hibs.

Tavernier was also the victim against Motherwell as supporters launched a lighter plus other objects in his direction.

Team-mate Wes Foderingham was also subject to racial slurs on social media last year.

Tavernier joined players from across Britain last week to condemn racial abuse in football with the 'Make A Stand Against Racism' campaign.

He posted: "We are making a stand against racist abuse.

"We recognise that our platforms come with responsibility, and so we are using our voice to stand against racist abuse.

"Together, we are calling on social media platforms and footballing bodies to do more!"
