Rangers star Ianis Hagi tracked by Lazio as Italian giants ponder move for playmaker

Italian giants Lazio are reportedly eyeing a move for Rangers loan star Ianis Hagi.

The 21-year-old has impressed, particularly in Europe, since joining the Ibrox club in January.

Rangers have an option to buy the playmaker for around £4million in the summer, however that hasn't stopped other clubs tracking the talented Romanian.

Reports from Corriere dello Sport in Italy suggest that Lazio have been in touch with the player's entourage, but would likely have to pay big money to secure his signature.

It is expected that Hagi will leave Genk in the summer, and his father Gheorghe has already said he feels Rangers is a great club for Ianis.

He said after last month's victory over Braga at Ibrox that his son was in the perfect place.

He said: "Ianis is fit, plays well and his happy.

"He has clearly chosen the ideal team, the ideal club and he is doing very well.

"From now on, I'll let you see how he's doing for himself. He will be the one doing the speaking and we'll just enjoy how he's doing."

Rangers take on Hamilton Accies in the Ladbrokes Premiership tonight at Ibrox, with Hagi included in Steven Gerrard's squad.
