Rangers star explains transfer move as 'quick, tricky and direct' ace aims to excite fans

Josh McPake says he's coming to Tranmere Rovers to spark some excitement amongst the fans after sealing his loan switch from Rangers.

The Coatbridge youngster spent the first half of the season on loan at English League One side Morecambe but injury disrupted his progress.

He now joins former Dundee United manager Micky Mellon in League Two as they push for promotion to League One.

McPake says his mission is to get fans off their seats: “The manager wants me to come here, play games, score goals and give the fans some enjoyment.

"I really like him and I’m really looking forward to getting started.

“I scored my first league goal at Prenton Park (for Harrogate) and it was a bit gutting to play there with no fans but I’m really looking forward to playing there in front of the fans and giving them something to cheer about.

“I’m a quick, tricky and direct winger and I just want to create, assist and score goals.

"I had a few choices but the promotion push is what I want for my career so I don’t think there’s a better place to come."

McPake added that the Tranmere fans were a key reason behind his move: “I’m absolutely delighted to join the club. I’ve met everyone and got to know everyone so far so I’m really excited.

“I just want to get out and play games so to get the deal done as early as possible helps a lot so thankfully we managed to do that.

"It’s a massive club and the fan base was a major factor in my decision as well as the promotion push that we’re on. The club is going in the right direction so it was an easy choice."
