Rangers star Alfredo Morelos makes generous donation to help underprivileged families amid coronavirus pandemic

Alfredo Morelos has pledged £75,000 to help underprivileged families in his native Colombia during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Rangers striker has made various donations through his charity and other groups throughout the past year.

And that total has now reached £300,000 after his latest act of generosity.

Morelos has vowed to give people in his hometown of Cerete a better life after the tragic passing of his little sister when he was a teenager.

The Ibrox talisman travelled back to the impoverished area during the winter break where he staged a friendly charity match.

A number of Colombian footballers supported the event with 7000 fans in attendance as food was provided for those in need from 300 supermarkets.

Morelos has been a standout performer for Rangers this season with 29 goals in the first half of the campaign.

But the forward has suffered a drought in front of goal in recent months with only one goal since the turn of the year, before football was suspended amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
