Kemar Roofe played a huge part in securing a vital three points the last time Rangers played St Johnstone.
The striker kickstarted the comeback from the penalty spot after Michael O'Halloran had given the hosts a shock second half lead in Perth back in September.
Steven Gerrard was in charge that day, with James Tavernier securing the win late on.
But new gaffer Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed Roofe is unavailable for Wednesday night's clash at Ibrox.
The former Leeds United and Anderlecht man started against Lyon last week, but missed Sunday's 2-0 win at Hearts with a knock – and he's set to miss out again.
Roofe and Ryan Jack have both suffered injury setbacks and are unlikely to be available before the winter break.
But the Rangers boss has revealed he has no new injury fears and he is expected to select from the same pool of players for the Saints visit.
Leon Balogun (knock), Filip Helander (knee) and Nnamdi Ofoborh (heart issue) are, however, still sidelined.
