Rangers squad revealed as Kemar Roofe return for Celtic showdown provides certainty amid cloudy Covid picture

Covid struck Rangers could see the return of several first-team stars for their showdown with Celtic.

Manager Steven Gerrard and a host of big name players missed the midweek trip to Aashkert in the Europa League playoff due to an outbreak within the club.

Assistant boss Gary McAllister has hinted that some of the key men absent in Europe could return for the Ibrox clash thanks to updated guidance over self isolation for those who are double vaccinated.

Kemar Roofe and John Lundstram will return to the squad having both been suspended in midweek.

Forward Fashion Sakala has offered a clue on social media that he could have recovered from a groin injury with the message on Instagram "happy to be back" with a clip promoting the showdown.

Long-term absentees Ryan Jack and Nikola Katic remain on the road to recovery but are not yet ready for first-team action.

It has been suggested that Ryan Kent is in the running for a return to first-team action after a hamstring injury picked up against Ross County saw him miss out on the trip to Armenia.

It remains to be seen, however, if any of Gerrard, captain James Tavernier, winger Scott Wright and goalkeeping duo Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin will be able to return.
