Rangers squad revealed as Jermain Defoe leads double attacking boost for Dundee United clash

Striker Jermain Defoe is back in the Rangers squad for their clash with Dundee United at Ibrox.

He'll be joined by Cedric Itten who has recovered from a calf problem.

Goalkeeper Allan McGregor is also out after jarring a knee in training, while Jordan Jones has reported back from Northern Ireland with a quad problem that will keep him out.

But Borna Barisic has shaken off the dead leg he suffered while away with Croatia and returns to the Rangers squad along with Defoe (hamstring) and Itten.

Midfielder Joe Aribo could miss as many as six weeks with an ankle issue.

Long-term knee injury victim Nikola Katic is making progress but a return to action remains months off.

Lawrence Shankland returns to the Dundee United side after recovering from an ankle complaint which has kept him out since the opening day of the season.

Midfielder Flo Hoti, who signed on Friday, could go into Micky Mellon's squad but defender Mark Connolly will miss out with an ankle injury.

Potential Rangers line-up

Provisional squad

McLaughlin, Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic, Jack, Davis, Hagi, Kent, Itten, Roofe, Firth, Balogun, Edmundson, Bassey, Patterson, Kamara, Arfield, Barker, Morelos, Defoe, Stewart
