The club await results on a knee scan after the captain was injured in Thursday's Europa League last 32 first leg against Royal Antwerp.
Centre-back Leon Balogun will likely slot in with backup Nathan Patterson removed from the first-team squad for breaking Covid rules, along with Bongani Zungu and Calvin Bassey.
Gerrard also admitted his "concern" at another calf flare-up for forward Kemar Roofe, who would have been suspended to face Micky Mellon's Terrors anyway.
But Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos has served his three-game ban while Jermain Defoe could also feature for the first time in a month - particularly because he isn't included in Rangers' squad for the second leg against Antwerp next week.
Scott Arfield could make a first start in the league since Boxing Day, but long-term absentee Nikola Katic (knee) is still out.
Meanwhile Dundee United will be without midfielders Peter Pawlett and Dillon Powers at Ibrox due to suspension and a head injury respectively.
