Rangers' SPFL feud slapped down as SFA vice president brands spat 'bald guys fighting over a comb'

SFA vice-president Mike Mulraney has dismissed Rangers ' feud with the SPFL as "bald guys fighting over a comb".

The Alloa Athletic chairman believes the feud is simply "white noise" against the backdrop of the existential threat hanging over Scottish football.

He's certain the saga's outcome, whatever that may be, will have no bearing on the long term future of a sport facing financial ruin.

Rangers, backed by Hearts and Stranraer, have forced an EGM to decide whether the SPFL should be investigated over the controversial season-ending vote, claiming they hold evidence of wrongdoing.

Mulraney's focus as part of the joint response group searching a way out of the coronavirus-enforced shutdown is ensuring fans have a club to return to when the pandemic ends.

"I understand that people are exercised by the happenings of what goes on," he told BBC Sportsound.

"It's an imperfect world and when people are trying to react at pace there are frustrations on all sides. There are harsh words spoken on all sides.

"But in the context of what our game is facing, it's kind of white noise.

"I'm paying attention to it because, of course, it's important in the context of an event, but in the context of what Scottish football's facing, it's white noise.

"It's like me and another four baldy guys fighting over a comb, it's not really going to impact the long term future of Scottish football.

"I believe the SFA and everyone else has a responsibility to ensure that when my wee boy, who is six years old, when he gets to 16 there's a game that he can meaningfully take part in.

"I understand how important it feels to those that are at the centre of it but in the grand scheme of what Scottish football is facing, what society is facing..."
