Rangers signing Cedric Itten hailed by St Gallen fans as club thank him for his efforts

St Gallen fans have joined their club in thanking Cedric Itten after he sealed his move to Rangers.

The 23-year-old sealed his move to Ibrox on Tuesday, along with 27-year-old forward Kemar Roofe.

Itten has scored three goals in two appearances for the Swiss national team, and was a key figure for St Gallen.

After the move was announced by Rangers, Itten's former club tweeted : "Thank you for your efforts, the many goals and the great time in green and white, Cedric! All the best for the Rangers!"

These St Gallen supporters were disappointed to see him leave.

"I will miss you. We will miss your goal-scoring quality here in Eastern Switzerland. I hope Scotland will be a great stop for you" - @MiguelG06798027

"Thanks for the great time, the great comeback after the serious injury and the many goals, of course. Good luck" - @Toolhead833

"If it doesn't suit him, he can come back at any time" - @schoga18

"Good luck, Cedric! And congrats to Steven Gerrard and Glasgow Rangers: This guy is a hot talent!" - @rainerfiedlerLP

"I do not approve and I am not amused" - @cakefriend_

Some St Gallen fans, however, don't believe Scotland is a big enough stage for Itten's talents.

"To the Rangers??? Scotland is great, but not - except for the derby - to play football" - @Planas_SH

"What a shame. Better to play a year longer in the Super League than in the insignificant Scottish league. However, good luck anyway" - @vivalavida11111

Itten won't be involved on Thursday night when Steven Gerrard's side face Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, but could make his debut in the Premiership against St Mirren on Sunday.
