Rangers sign Ianis Hagi on permanent deal

Rangers have confirmed the signing of Ianis Hagi on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old arrived at Ibrox on loan from Belgian side RKC Genk in January, and made an excellent impression prior to the shutdown.

The attacking midfielder, who has 10 caps for the Romanian national side, made the first of his 12 Rangers appearances against Aberdeen on February 1st and scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win against Hibs four days later.

His most memorable moment, however, came in the Europa League. Hagi's double against Sporting Braga inspired a stirring 3-2 Rangers comeback at Ibrox.

Genk tonight confirmed the deal on their website, saying: "Ianis Hagi (21) definitively switches to Glasgow Rangers.

"The Scottish club has lifted the purchase option for the attacking midfielder. KRC Genk had acquired Hagi from the Romanian Viitorul last summer, but left him on a rental basis to Rangers in January.

"We wish Ianis the best of luck in his further career."
