Rangers should be targeting Lyndon Dykes or English Championship clubs could make him a £10m striker

Lyndon Dykes is a potential star in the making and Rangers would be doing themselves a disservice if they let him end up elsewhere - that's the verdict of our Record Rangers Podcast pundits Scott McDermott and Jonny McFarlane.

Dykes hit the post late on at Ibrox on Sunday with a wonderful volley but it was his hold-up play and sharp all-round game that made the Australian striker stand out.

The striker had scored nine and racked up six assists in the Premiership so far this season and will surely be on the radar of bigger clubs.

And our pundits feel that Steven Gerrard should be looking to the bustling hitman as a project player for next season or watch a Championship club snap him up and reap the benifits.

With Kenny McLean's recent £10m valuation at Norwich still in mind, our top team feels that Dykes has the talent to go south and quickly ratchet up his value.

If the striker isn't on Ross Wilson's transfer list he can console himself that his performances against Rangers have at least won him admirers in the Ibrox dressing room.

Niko Katic was effusive in his praise for the striker after Saturday's game at Ibrox, going as far as to compare him with 29-goal Alfredo Morelos.

He said: “When you play against a striker like Dykes it’s always tough too because he is really good.

“Almost he’s on the same level as Alfredo Morelos and I think he will become a really top player, it is always hard to play against him.

“It’s important we responded with a win. We have to go step by step again.

“Try to win every game because nothing is done."
