Rangers set the stage with Blue Room makeover in time for big manager reveal

Rangers fans are struggling to contain their patience ahead of a potential new managerial arrival.

And some reckon they've spotted a big giveaway from the bowels of Ibrox, specifically in the famous 'Blue Room' where the club's greatest announcements are made.

Gio van Bronckhorst still appears to be leading the way but the supporters are hoping for a big reveal soon with a Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Hibs just six days away.

Reports circulated on Monday morning the club were locked in further talks with their "preferred candidate".

And that came just as Rangers posted a short statement to confirm training will be taken by David McCallum, Brian Gilmour, Jermain Defoe and Colin Stewart until they reach the end point of the recruitment process.

Meanwhile, fan collective Sons of Struth – a group so instrumental in forcing out the previous, despised regime to allow Dave King and Co’s takeover – seem to think that's imminent.

They have posted an image on their Facebook page showing a special backdrop featuring the club's sponsors spotted in the famous room.

It's the exact backdrop supporters are used to featuring behind former boss Steven Gerrard and the players during their weekly media duties.

But the big difference is the location as the iconic space is usually used for the club's biggest arrivals.

The fans’ group, which also runs a football academy for youngsters by the same name, captioned the snap: "Add chairs and a desk then we are good to go. Just need our next manager to arrive."

Gerrard departed Ibrox for Aston Villa on Thursday and this week gave his first interview to the Premier League side's in-house media team.

He said: "I want to win every game.

"Now my priority and focus and everything I will give on a daily basis will be for Aston Villa.

"One thing I can guarantee to the supporters and all the staff and players here is, when I commit to something, I am all in."
