Rangers set for Alkass Cup return as Ibrox side begin defence by avoiding big guns

Rangers have avoided the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid after the group stage draw for the Alkass International Cup was made.

The Ibrox side lifted the trophy last year with an enthralling penalty win over Roma in the final.

And they'll be hoping to get through the group stage fairly comfortably after being drawn against Aspire Academy and Suwon Samsung.

It means they won't face the likes of the La Liga pair or French giants PSG who have all been drawn in different groups.

The four sections sees Barcelona and PSG paired together while Real Madrid are in with Zenit St Petersburg and Sporting Lisbon.

Inter Milan are another big name in the tournament and they'll take on Turkish side Altinordu FK and Mohammed VI Football Academy.

Rangers had the likes of Kai Kennedy and Nathan Young-Coombes as their key men in last year's tournament.

The U17 competition saw David McCallum in charge of the young Gers.
