Rangers sent Jonson Clarke-Harris transfer warning as Barry Fry gets tough over in-demand striker

Expectant Barry Fry insists Peterborough won't sell goal machine Jonson Clarke-Harris on the cheap ahead of their return to the Championship.

The 26-year-old is wanted man after he bagged 33 goals and the charismatic Posh chairman previously revealed Rangers sent scouts to watch him last season.

A host of clubs have been linked with the man who replaced Ivan Toney at London Road with Steven Gerrard 's side among them.

Peterborough have become transfer specialists by selling their top performers for competitive fees that also include a sell-on fee.

Fry and owner Darragh MacAnthony aren't hard to spot but both have rightly earned praise for unearthing unappreciated gems before turning a profit.

And the 76-year-old insists that will be the case once again if they decide to part ways with the former Bristol Rovers marksman.

He told the Transfer Tavern: “Do I expect bids for Jonson Clarke-Harris? Yes I do. Will they be enough? I don’t know.

“Because we don’t want to go up to the Championship and be also-rans, we want to go up to the Championship and stay there and progress further, so it’ll have to be a good offer.”

Gerrard and sporting director Ross Wilson have been pushing ahead with their signing plans ahead of their Champions League tilt and have already secured Fashion Sakala on a free transfer from Oostende.

Nnamdi Ofoborh, too, is on his way to Ibrox after he agreed to join from AFC Bournemouth back in January.
