Rangers sent Europa League warning as Standard Liege star confident of Ibrox revival

Rangers won't have it all their own way on Thursday as Standard Liege fight for their lives, according to star midfielder Gojko Cimirot.

Anything but a win will see the Belgians exit the competition with a game to spare and it just so happens they are up against the Scottish Premiership leaders on their own patch.

Rangers are yet to lose a game in any competition this term and sit atop Group D, knowing a win will send them through to the round of 32.

Standard, in contrast, prop the group up as things stand.

They need two unlikely wins against Steven Gerrard 's team and Benfica to keep their slim qualification hopes alive.

As long as there is a chance, however, Cimirot says his team aren't giving up.

"As long as it is mathematically possible, we believe in it," he told reporters in Belgium, as per Walfoot.

"A victory in Scotland and then we will see if it is possible.

"Rangers are still undefeated. A very good team with quality players."

Rangers emerged comfortable victors in the reverse fixture in Belgium but Cimirot - who will miss out at Ibrox due to a muscle injury - took encouragement from that defeat.

"We lost 0-2 but we had great opportunities so I am optimistic," he said.
