Rangers Scott Wright January bid will need to be 'good offer' as Aberdeen lay down transfer law

Aberdeen have warned Rangers winger Scott Wright will still cost the Ibrox side good money if they want to make his pre-contract move permanent in January.

The winger agreed a deal to join Steven Gerrard's side when his contract in the Granite City expires at the end of the season, however there has been a suggestion the Glasgow club could push for the move to go through before the January deadline.

Aberdeen are due to pay Rangers £350,000 to settle the transfer of midfielder Ross McCrorie, who agreed a season-long loan deal with an obligation to buy in the summer.

But the Dons have reportedly told Gers sporting director Ross Wilson that any move to prise Wright away in the winter window would have to come with "a good offer".

Derek McInnes has said h will continue to use Wright in his first team for as long as he remains at Pittodrie, while the player himself has indicted he is more than willing to see out his contract.

The Daily Record reports player swaps had been discussed between the two clubs, only for the Dons' board to put a halt to those talks in favour of retaining the winger.

The 23-year-old has scored twice in 18 games for the Pittodrie club this season after a cruciate ligament injury forced him to miss almost all of the previous campaign.

The Gers are also understood to be closing in on pre-contract moves for Bournemouth pair Jack Simpson and Nnamdi Ofoborh, while Fashion Sakala of Belgium's KV Oostende remains a target.
