Rangers rewarded for outstanding October as manager and player of the month awards head to Ibrox

Steven Gerrard and Connor Goldson have picked up the SPFL manager and player of the month awards for October.

The Rangers duo have been rewarded for an outstanding month which saw the Ibrox club win every match they played. They also failed to concede a goal in league action – with Galatasaray's effort at Ibrox on 1 October the only strike they let in across all competitions.

Last night's draw to Benfica was the first match Rangers didn't win since the 2-2 draw with Hibs on 20 September.

Reacting to the award win, Goldson said: "I feel mentally and physically good, the recognition is nice but I am happier about the strong month the team had.

"We had some tough fixtures. I think if you have said win all the games and draw Benfica would have taken it but obviously disappointed how last night went."

Rangers' October started with a 2-1 win over Galatasaray before a 2-0 league success over Ross County just three days later.

They then overcame Celtic, a match in which Goldson scored twice in before, enjoying victories against Standard Liege, Livingston and Lech Poznan, and taking care of Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on 1 November.
