Rangers return question answered as star explains why Hamilton transfer is better option than Ibrox

Kai Kennedy says Hamilton is more suited to his needs right now than parent club Rangers - as he has to be playing first-team minutes.

A whirlwind 24 hours last week saw Kennedy swap the Premiership champions for Hamilton and his debut was made against Dunfermline on Saturday- the club he spent the first half of this season on loan with.

It's the Scotland youth international's fourth Championship loan move away from Rangers after spells with Inverness, Raith Rovers and the Pars.

Kennedy couldn't inspire Hamilton to victory over his former club as Ryan Dow's goal sealed a 1-0 Dunfermline win. It leaves Accies sixth in the table.

He said: "It's odd but it was a disappointing result for us. We just need to pick ourselves up and get going again. It has been fine. I've got in and trained well.

"Obviously we are disappointed we didn't get the win. I'm just glad to be here. Having played against Hamilton this season I think they've played well.

"The way they play football suits me. Obviously Saturday wasn't great but going forward it will suit me personally."

Kennedy had a chat with Rangers after a mixed loan spell at Dunfermline in the first half of this season. Returning to Ibrox in any capacity - including for the club's Lowland League 'B' team - was never an option.

The focus is now on impressing Accies head coach Stuart Taylor.

He explained: "It was simple, just get more games under my belt. I think that's what I need. I just need to start adding some stuff to my game.

"I just got it done as soon as possible. We knew it was happening as soon as I got back. It wasn't the sake of a recall and then see what happens. It was going straight back on loan.

"I think I had to come back out on loan to get more games under my belt playing in the Championship and add some more stuff to my games.

"It's different but being out on loan is the best thing for me. I like playing out wide and as a 10 but I'll play anywhere to be honest as long as I'm on the pitch."
