Brandon Haunstrup insists Kilmarnock's players will give everything they can to fight relegation.
The left-back played as his side fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Rangers, but he knows results like that won't define their season.
However, with just nine games left, time is running out for the Ayrshire side to start stringing wins together.
Hamilton Accies' thumping win over Motherwell means Killie are now just one point clear of bottom place in the Premiership table.
But Haunstrup says the squad remain confident of avoiding the drop.
He said: "It shows you how tight it is, but that’s how it is.

"Every team is going to fancy themselves to stay up and get up the league, we are one of those teams.
"Look at our squad. If you are in and about it, you can feel the tightness in there.
"The boys will fight for each other, they will fight for the gaffer, they will fight for the fans.
"Looking at the table isn’t great. Looking at our previous results isn’t great.
"The new gaffer has come in with new ideas to put in place. We have a new identity so we’re not conceding loads of goals. We have been unlucky. Even against Rangers, we were been done by a piece of brilliance."
Haunstrup has reflected on Tommy Wright's first week in charge fondly, admitting it's a "breath of fresh air".
He said: “It’s good, it has been a breath of fresh air as it always is when a new manager comes in.
“All of the lads are raring to go, they have been training fantastically all week.
“We showed more character against Motherwell than most games, the possession was high and we looked good.
“Against Rangers we didn’t do enough in the final third, I fancied us to nick something it wasn’t to be."
