Rangers reject Eros Grezda escapes legal action as he issues grovelling apology over astonishing bust-up

Forgiving Rijeka have revealed they not take legal action against Rangers flop Eros Grezda after his shock attack on one of their players.

The Albanian international was caught on tape going for Antonio Colak in the car park after Osijek's Cup loss on Sunday.

Grezda - who had a nightmare 18-month spell at Rangers under Steven Gerrard - claimed he was the subject of racist abuse and that's why he reacted against Colak.

But it's since emerged Grezda sent an apology straight after the incident and never mentioned the abuse.

He texted Colak and stated: "I'm not writing this for you not to report me, I've cooled down now and I shouldn't have done it. We should have solved it by talking as men, but I was still upset about the whole game.

"So I apologise to you and you decide what you want to do."

Grezda is now facing a huge ban from the Croatian FA and Rijeka sports director, Ivan Mance, is content not to take any further action.

He said: "I would like to emphasize that we have good relations with Osijek as a club and that we have many friends there.

"Rijeka as a club, but also the whole society, must have zero tolerance for violence. Things that happen on the field while the passions are boiling are one thing, but an hour after the game, things like this should not happen.

"I am especially sorry that the target of the attack was Antonio Colak , who is one of the most professional, kindest, warmest and best people ever to wear the jersey of our club.

"As for the club, we will not take legal steps towards Osijek player, we want him to come to the realisation that his behaviour has been extremely dishnourable and he will have to live with the consequences."
