Rangers react to Ondrej Kudela racism ban as club seek clarification over 'severe' Glen Kamara sanction

Rangers have welcomed the decision to ban Slavia Prague racist Ondrej Kudela, but are seeking clarification after two of their stars were also sanctioned.

The centre-back has been found guilty of racially abusing Glen Kamara in the Europa League second leg and has been hit with a 10 game ban.

That will apply to Slavia's remaining European matches as well as the Czech national team, meaning Kudela will almost certainly miss out on Euro 2020.

But UEFA have also handed down punishments to Kamara himself and Kemar Roofe.

The former has been suspended for three games for assaulting Kudela after the match, while the striker's challenge that left Ondrej Kolar with a fractured skull has earned him a four game ban.

A Rangers statement said: "We welcome the suspension imposed on Ondrej Kudela.

"This not only vindicates Glen Kamara’s evidence but underlines the severity of the comment, given the maximum number of games has been imposed by UEFA.

"Nevertheless, we believe the sanctions imposed on our two players (Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe) are severe.

"We have written to UEFA, seeking clarification in writing on the basis that we intend to appeal the suspensions on both of players.

"We will make no further comment on this matter."
